BIRTH & NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY
My main interest in photography started when I was a teenager. I took pictures of everything and everyone I possibly could. My family always counted on me to bring my camera to birthdays, family reunions and vacations.

When the birth of my own children happened, my outlook on photography completely changed. I wasn't taking pictures just to take pictures. I was trying to capture a memory that wouldn't be erased from my mind. It was a life changing opportunity for me.

My birth doula work has taken me further into the same direction. Birth is a life changing event and while it won't be easily forgotten, sometimes the smallest details get lost in the shuffle. Capturing the little details is what I love to do. I love the opportunity to bring joy to parents who are fully engaged in laboring and helping their newborn arrive.

It has been rewarding to be a birth doula and a photographer at the same time. While it can be accomplished, it is very challenging.  I am now offering my services as a birth and newborn photographer separate from my birth and postpartum doula work.

The images taken at your birth will be edited and preserved for your keeping on a cd. A slide show set to music will also be presented to you with a dvd. Photographs may be purchased through me and will be printed at a professional photography developing location.

For newborn photography, the session will take place in your home. Most newborn shoots take between 1 and 3 hours to allow for breastfeeding, diaper changes, changing clothing, rocking and sleeping. I provide backdrops and basic props, but if you have a special item, such as a blanket, I will be more than pleased to incorporate this into the setting. Images from the newborn shoot will be edited and preserved for your keeping on a cd. Again, professional printing is offered through me at affordable cost.

Please feel free to contact me for pricing options and availability. Please check http://www.flickr.com/photos/embracebirth/ to see my current images.
